Italoboyz have been around for some time now making themselves a name after the huge Victor Casanova, Portucaiz, At De Stella, and Bahia. Particularily well-known for their drunken and dramatic sampled vocals but also their play with rhythmic elements in the otherwise quite minimal sound. Don’t miss their upcoming album coming out in September this year!

Italoboyz Bla Bla Bla (Tech House)

Daniel Mehlhart, the young 22 year old from Switzerland who’s been featured on Kindisch before is now back with a smashing release. Alura is a subtle play with percussions, bongos, claps and congos which just keep quietly elevating Mehlharts deep sound. Be sure to check out the A1 side of the release, Scharade, if you haven’t already.

Quite the odd one out from the usual Ostgut Ton Berghain techno sound we have this gem that was featured on Len Faki’s Berghain 03 mix. Lionni takes us on a trip back to the land of synths rather than raw structured bass lines and I love it!

Tony Lionni Found A Place (Deep House)

The next tune is rather more minimal but still has the funk, almost reminiscent of the old Nic Fanciulli. It’s quite a peaceful track with a slow steady pumping bass and sample vocal.

Last week I was browsing some old Tim Sweeney, of DFA fame, mix sets and stumbled upon this one together with Soft Rocks. Enchanted by this dark african groove in one of the songs I tried to find the track by the track list and suffice it to say it wasn’t easy when it wasn’t even spelled correctly. After a few hours of searching it turned out to belong to the arsenal of Innervision in their the second “Secret Weapon” release in 2008.

DJ Mbuso Ukukholwa Kuwe (Believe In You) (Tech House, Techno)

Don’t be fooled by my labeling of the next tune as afro house. It’s also a “Secret Weapon” released a few weeks ago and marks a really nice experimental track.

Spencer Parker started out as a remixer on Radio Slave’s, by now, brand Rekids and has grown into something that’s really comparable to his master. A real gem that will make you want to move your body, no doubt.

Spencer Parker Yogoto (Tech House)

I deeply appologize for not putting this up any earlier. I’ve simply been on the look out for this for too long that I forgot about it. Radio Slave is back with congas and drums that really define the sound of 2009 techno music for me. Excellent.

It is quite remarkable how Maya Angelou’s Pulitzer prize nominated poem Phenomenal Woman synergizes with Seth’s low-groove detroit inspired synth work. Certainly phenomenal and if last year didn’t give a fair measure of Seth’s prodigal genius then this year certainly will.

Seth Troxler Aphrika (Deep House, Tech House)

If you were ever to ask me what post-minimal sounds like I would no doubt present you this little new hand craft by the Romanian up-and-coming star.

A few weeks ago I stumbled upon this new label called La Pena, translated as “the pain” from Spanish. I was sure I recognized the sound to some of my favorite artists and as it turns out it’s an alias for the duo Einzelkind (I’m stumped that I haven’t posted anything by them yet!). Best description that I can come up with is minimal techno influenced by German deep house. Their latest LP, La Pena 003, has 3 gems and with this vocal tech track containing what I believe are vocals from Music is the Answer. Update: Actually this track wasnt what I intended to post so I’m attaching yet another one from the same LP. Called Free from Love.

La Pena Free from Love (Techno, Minimal)
La Pena Keep Movin (Tech House, Minimal)

I’m putting this one up for good measure to demonstrate what the duo is about. Out last year on Kindisch.

Einzelkind AKA The Groove (Tech House, Minimal)

First time I heard this wicked South American inspired techno track was in one of Italoboyz mixes early last year and I have been on the lookout for the name. Now that I’ve found it by sheer coincidence I thought I’d share this true gem with you. Raw percussion sounds with some foreign vocals at its best. Please note that this is not the Vandalism remix that seems to be ubiquitous but which I believe is merely a shadow of this original mix.

While we eagerly await Seth Troxlers new EP Aphrika these few gems will have to satisfy our hunger. True to his patented style Radio Slave remakes this new Rekids imprint into something tribal that doesn’t have any similarities with its original. But I can’t help to feel that the African sounds together with the eery savanna feeling suits me better.

Mr G Makes No Sense (Radio Slave Remix) (Techno, Tech House)

Quite old by now but still builds the energetic mood like few tracks out there. By the master of Safari Electronique himself

Arnaud Le Texier Wild Quiche (Techno)

Illario Alicante is the master of percussions so it would seem. Here he takes us on a romantic hispanic techno tale that will certainly leave you with strange voices in your head.

I feel like The Martinez Brothers always have been the big room fellas but this fresh vocal track brings them closer to what I would call Italoboyz-esque. Ingenious use of vocals along with the dark tribal backdrop and deep house kickers will certainly make a mark on big room floors across the globe during the 2009.

The Martinez Brothers Debbie Downer (Deep House, Tech House)

I really love how the minimal elements progress in symbiosis with the melodic moan vocals. Taking into account that this track was made like back in 1993 it accurately depicts what’s hot today. In fact this piece is so damn hot it will probably make the bouncer go to the floor dancing.

MD3 Pressure Cooker (Phil Weeks Remix) (Techno, Minimal)

Josh Wink is working on his full-length album and the following little magnificent track will be released along with it sometime in February on Ovum. What is one of the most inspiring releases so far this year features Wink experimenting with some really groovy acid pitch effects that are intelligently exectued throughout. The 10 minute piece then gently calms down to deep spacy congo drums. Papa Wink allegedly started working on this track on the 19th of March 2007, hence the 319 in its name.

Josh Wink Counter Clock 319 (Techno)

By now you can probably guess that Solomun here also experimented with pitching. Although on the bass which creates the a really deep texture to how the whole track developes. This, by now, classic piece of deep techno also has its Radio Slave’is quirks about midgame.

The theme for today is those really weird tracks that make you go “whoa what the hell is this shit” on the floor. Specially suited for those late nights is Seth Troxler, known for making really bizarre techno trips and this is certainly no exception. For what I know he could have made this while recieving a blow job. Late night ruckus from Wagoon Repair at its best.

Seth Troxler Tribute To Head (Techno, Minimal, Acid)

Simon Beesting is an up and coming minimal producer from Berlin, think Bar 25 and you’ll get a good taste of his sound. It’s a pinch of seriousness coming from the eery atmosphere he builds up with with whistle-like sounds and, at the same time, you can’t help but to chuckle over the cartoon parts. You’ll know what I mean when you listen to it.

Simon Beeston Floorboards (Minimal, Tech)

Oliver Hacke released this gem on Trapez LTD. after a long time of inactivity. Straight up full of forest grooves which make you wonder if you’re really on the dance floor and out in the cold jungle.

Oliver Hacke Mangroves to The Lagoons (Jurek “Deep Nostalgia” Remix) (Minimal, Tech)

This one is really the odd one out of the four tracks offered today being teasy and cheerfully reminiscing the young days at the amusement park.

Boola Blitschki 00 (Techno)
